Educational Committee (BEC)
The Buddhist Education Committee (BEC) plans Buddhist educational activities including seminars and lectures; publishes Buddhist materials used at the LA Nishi Hongwanji Betsuin such as pocket calendars, service books and information on funeral services; manages the Nishi website and publishes articles for the JIHO newsletter.
The BEC was established in 1990 to provide the membership with Buddhist educational activities in appreciation for their support of the temple. The first activity was Spring and Fall Higan Seminars and the BEC has continued to sponsor this activity annually. The BEC meets regularly on the third Sunday of each month. The membership includes representatives from the various affiliated organizations, ministerial staff and persons interested in sharing the teachings of the Buddha Dharma with temple members.
The BEC
sponsors the Spring and Fall Higan Seminars during the
year.
