1.               Daisies – (Debbie Tao) – November 20th:  Daisies earned their ÒFriendly and HelpfulÓ.  MayaÕs Mom, Megan, helped them make bookmarkers to give to someone special.  December 11th:  End of Year Party, the Daisies had lots of fun, especially the entertainment and the beautiful Holiday trees made for them by the Cadettes.  Thank you!  January 8th:  Daisies earned their ÒConsiderate and CaringÓ petal.  SarahÕs Mom, Naomi, read a story about being courteous.  Then the girls colored several coloring sheets that were later mailed to be distributed to nursing home across the nation to cheer up their recipients.  The girls also signed large ÒHappy New YearÓ cards to be presented to the Keiro Nursing Homes.  January 22nd:  The Cadettes are hosting the Daisies and leading them in a special craft project.

2.               Brownie – (Tosh Yasuda for Lisa Yasuda) – During the last parent meeting, the Brownies decorated water bottles and first aid kits for the first activity for the GirlSports Try-it.  They all had a good time while being reminded of the importance of safety, especially staying hydrated when being active.  The next time we met, December 4th, the Brownies put together a wreath decoration for the upcoming holidays.  It was a little complicated, but it was worth the effort!  They were beautiful!  The first meeting after the winter holiday was on January 8th.  The Brownies completed the next activity for the GirlSport Try-it.  They learned about famous female athletes.  Each girl had a chance to read up on an athlete and relay the information to the others.  Last meeting, the girls decorated pots for a strawberry plant.  Many were overly concentrated on and they barely had any time to write in their journals.   Until next timeÉ.

3.               Juniors – (Sandie Tom)  – On January 8th the Juniors made a list of things they wanted to do for the Bronze Award.  The 3 main things all the girls wanted to do were something to help the environment, something to help the homeless and something to help animals.  We decided to combine all three.  The girls will be recycling bottles, cans and Capri Sun packets to help raise money to buy food, toys materials to make toys and materials to possibly make blankets for pets belonging to the homeless.  On January 15th the Juniors put a recycling box out by the girlÕs restroom.  The girls made posters to put up to advertise our recycling efforts.  Tonight, a few of the girls and Debi Ueda are showing the rest of the girls how to make 5 different types of swaps to bring up to San Francisco for the bridging ceremony.  The Seniors are assisting the girls.  The girls are also writing letters to Petco, Petsmart, Walmart and anyone else that might be willing to donate damaged bags of dog and cat food.  If anyone has any suggestions, we welcome it.  Request:  The Juniors are asking anyone and everyone to please help with their recycling efforts.  We are also seeking donations of anything that may help a homeless pet.  This includes food, treats, toys, blankets, beds and zip lock bags both small and large.  Pretty much anythingÉThank you!!!   Junior 2 parents need to meet after this parent meeting to discuss lodging in San Francisco. .

4.              Cadette 1 & 2 – (Joy Middo) – January 8th, we opened our first meeting of the year with elections.  President-Kirsty; Vice President – Anais; Secretary-Kelsey; and Treasurer-Anna.  The girls continued to work in their Amaze Journey book.  They finished up their note cards to give to their friends and decorated their peacemaker envelopes.  The envelopes will be used to collect their thoughts on the topic of discussion of each meeting.  At the end of the Journey, we will return their envelopes so that they may reflect on what they wrote.  January 15th – Several of the Ambassadors came to talk to the girls about their experiences with the Catalina Overnight trip.  We are planning to go in April.  The girls learned a little about ÒRobertÕs Rules of OrderÓ in how to conduct a meeting by deciding whether or not to donate to Haiti Earthquake Relief.  The girls ultimately decided to donate a portion of their January monthly dues.  We then worked on the Amaze book and asked each girl what single most quality they would like to see in a friend.  The girls also participated in a mock talk show discussing about making and keeping true friendships.  They role played different situations such as if your boyfriend breaks up with you and starts to go out with your best friend, what would you do?  Service Project for Disney Give a Day, get a ticket:  C2Õs Sleep Tight Totes Project on January 30th from 11am-1pm in Santa Monica, filling pillowcases for under privilege children.  C1Õs Rabbit Match Adoption Event.     Tonight the girls are leading the Daisies in a fun craft activity.
