Group Reports:
- Brownies: Reported by Emi Morimoto. The girls are working on their fourth try-it, “Friends Are Fun”. During the last parent meeting, the Jr. IIIs hosted a spa for the Brownies. They set up various stations (i.e., hair braiding and nail painting) and taught the girls about healthy beauty tips (i.e., not to share hair brushes or lipstick). Thank you to the Jr. IIIs for a well-organized activity. Thank you to Randy Alexander who hosted a Uno tournament. Since some of the girls didn’t know who to play the game, it was a nice opportunity for the girls to help one another and work together. Thank you also to Dan & Eileen Yoshimura who taught the girls how to make friendship bracelets using braided string and beads. The girls also decorated heart-shaped boxes in which they could store their bracelets. Tonight the Cadettes are helping the Brownies decorate writing paper and matching envelopes to correspond with a special friend. As for upcoming activities, next Friday six of our Brownies will be attending the OCBC Girls Day Celebration. For Yakisoba prep night, we’ll be at Higashi with the Juniors. On March 11th we’ll start our next try-it, “Movers”.
- Juniors 1 and 2: Reported by Lynn Taketomo: The girls finished the “Plants and Animals” badge. Last week the girls started the “Sign of the Sun” and the “It’s Important to me” badge. On March 4th, the Juniors and Brownies are going to Higashi. Activities will include a movie and snacks. Transportation will be provided by the leaders. Authorizations must be signed by the
parents.
- Juniors 3: Reported by Rose Kamiya: The girls have completed the Junior Aide Award. They are currently working on their Leadership Award and the Bridging to Cadette Award. The girls have completed the First Aid training on February 5, 2005. All five Juniors passed and are now First Aid trained. Thank you Jr. III parents for bringing the girls and a big “Thank You” to Ted Oyama for training.
- Cadette 1 and 2: Reported by Ted Oyama. We are currently working on the “Photography” badge. The girls practiced working with different types of cameras (point and shoot, digital and SLR models). They learned about telephoto lenses, wide angles and standard lenses, “F” stop, ASA, and shutter speeds were also discussed by Mrs. Hamada. Pen pal letters sent to Japan. Next Friday we will be going to OCBC to participate in the “Girls Day” festival. About 160 girls are currently participating. We will be running the “Sakura Mochi” station. Mrs. Hirahara, Judy Ida, Mas Tomita, Stephanie
I., Lauren K. are signed up to help. We need electric skillets. Sakura manju swaps were made by some of the girls, Cindy, Donna and Nancy H.
- Cadette 3: Reported by Cyndy Wakita for Stacey Tanaka. All five girls have completed their write-up for their Silver Project and will be turned in to Council next week.
- Seniors I: Reported by Cyndy Wakita. The girls are working with the Juniors tonight on Walking for Fitness. They have planned five activities, Warm Up, Make a Plan, Best Foot Forward, Be Prepared, and Add It Up. On Feb. 4th and Feb. 11th, the girls worked on the interest patch, Its About Time. Our level will not be attending the OCBC event on Feb. 25th. We will meet to work on our interest patch since the following week is Yakisoba prep.
