Approval of the minutes
Correction to the October 22, 2004 Minutes: Juniors started their Ceramics badge and have not completed
it. Zipper sweatshirts are $27.00 and pull-over sweatshirts are $24.00. Minutes accepted with corrections.

Treasurers Report: November, 2004. As prepared by Junie Obi, Treasurer.
Temple Board Meeting:
- Clean Up for the Temple is on December 5, 2004 at 8:00 a.m. Bring in rags and
buckets. Girl Scouts are in charge of cleaning the waiting room upstairs, hallway, foyer and both upstairs and downstairs women’s restrooms.
- Our advisor, Rev. Briones, will be getting married on December 18, 2004 at 2:00 at Higashi. Bride-to-be is a minister at Higashi. Everyone is invited to attend.
- Eitaikyo Service representatives are Allie and Mari.
- The temple will be closed on November 25th (Thanksgiving),
December 25th and 26th (Christmas) and January 2nd.

Troop Leaders:
- Report by Nancy. We had the investiture on November 5th. We have 6 new Brownies, 2 Juniors and two leaders. Registration is closed for new girls for this year. At the Belmont meeting new activities were announced: Mojave Primitive Encampment on April 13-17, 2005 which is open for Cadettes, Seniors and Juniors III. Meetings are planned if you are interested please see Ted. There is also a Our Cabana, trip to Mexico for girls 16 years old on August 3-11, 2006, cost: $1,350.00 per person for a round trip air fare. Rose Bowl float decoration for girls 12 years and older, if interested please see Nancy. It was discussed at the meeting of getting together with the Koyasan and Chinatown troops for community service. Koyasan has a booth at the Children’s Day Festival which is on the 2nd weekend in May. Possible interaction with the neighborhood troops. More information to follow. Cookie Kick-off, training meeting on December 11, 2004. Kick-Off will be done with own troop on January 15 or 16th. Cookie sale starts on January 22nd to February 4th. More information to
follow.
Group Reports:
- Brownies: Reported by Emi Morimoto. The girls are working on their second Try-It, “Penny Power”. Thank you to Kevin Furukawa who helped the girls start a state quarters collection. Thanks also to Isabelle and Bill Sato who helped the girls make their own game in which they had to cut out play money and use the money to buy clothes for a paper cut out doll. The girls also used their play money to buy snacks at the end of the evening. Tonight the Cadettes are helping the Brownies prepare for their Year End performance.
- Juniors: Reported by Lynn Taketomo: Juniors I and II. They have all finished their Sign of the World, Lead-On, Toymaker badges. Now working on their GS in the USA badge and the Senior 1 are working with them to complete their last 2 requirements for the GS in the USA badge. Juniors 3: Reported by Rose Kamiya. Juniors 3 started their Junior Aid badge. They are planning to have a spa for the Brownies on January 28, 2005. Permission slips to the Brownie parents will be sent. We are sending in our application to attend the bridging in San Francisco.
- Cadette 1 and 2: Reported by Ted Oyama. October 29th – Pumpkin patch at the Halloween Party. A big thank you to Mrs. Yasukochi and her family for donating all the pumpkins for the booth. November 5th – Started “Your Own Business” Interest Patch. Analyzed magazine ads for content and ways to improve them. We will be developing an advertising campaign for a real or imaginary product. November 10th – Cadette I’s attend Silver Award Workshop. November 12th – Mrs. Donna Anami – guest speaker (Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist). Mrs. Anami gave valuable information to our girls regarding career path and what it takes to start and run a business. November 19th – Working with Brownies helping them prepare for the Year End party.
- Cadette 3: Reported by Stacy Tanaka. The girls started on their Silver project. On December 3rd we will be making the Year End center pieces with Senior I.
- Seniors I: Reported by Cyndy Wakita. The girls attended College Day at UCLA in October. There were workshops which the girls were able to attend and also experience some college life. On October 31st the girls attended a Gold workshop where they received information on the requirements. Last week they reviewed the requirements for the gold project. Tonight they are working with the Juniors.
- Seniors II: Reported by Norene Yasukochi. Worked on leadership hours by running a Cub Scout and Junior Scout meeting. With the Cub Scouts they played a friendly game of basketball. They helped the Juniors make bean bags. This Saturday is the Gold Award workshop. On December 11th is the Keiro Bingo Party.
- Seniors I: Reported by Suzette Kawaguchi. 4 girls received their letter saying that their Gold Award has been approved and the other 4 girls are working on their Gold.

- Obon: Nut and Magazines: Reported by Doris Ming. The Troop made $2,234.50. Four more cans to sell. Thank you everyone for all their hard work..

- Garden Clean-Up: Reported by Donna. Sunday, January 9, 2005 is: Anami, Hanada*, Higashiyama, Hirahara, Hirayanagi, Ida, Kawaguchi, Kawato, Kimura, Lew, Sato, Tomita, Yasuda and Sunday, March 13, 2005 is: Alexander, Hamada, Hamaguchi, Hayashibara, Ikkanda, Kamiya, Kawasaki, Louie, Ming, Teranishi, Toguchi, Yada, Yoshimura.

New Business
- Year End Party: Reported by Lorraine Kimura. On Friday, December 10, 2004 with all scouts. Sign up with one group (i.e., Cubs, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts) Sign up for finger foods is being passed around. Please provide enough food for a family of 4. Label all dishes and utensils.
- Oseibo: Donation to church, reverends and also to security guard which we split with the Cub and Boy Scouts. Motion to approve and passed at last meeting.
- Kohaku: Sunday, January 9, 2005 at 1:00 pm in the Kaikan. Last year Cub, Boy and Girl Scouts purchased an ad. Motion by Donna to purchase another one. Second by Susan. No discussion. No Oppose. Need to sell 10 tickets for $15.00. Any interested please see Reiko.
- Rev. Briones Wedding gift: Motion by Lee to look back in Treasurer’s Book to see what we gave Rev. Gibbs and give same amount to Rev. Briones. Second by Lorraine. No discussion. No Oppose.

- Lisa Y., Senior Girl Scout, working on Gold Award. She will be making activities books for the children at UCI to keep them busy until they have to go into surgery. Collecting books, reading materials, crayons, pencils.
- Kayla H., Senior Girl Scout, working on Gold Award “Play Time for Pets”. She will be making 4 cat scratching posts and 15 wind chimes. Collecting 15 cardboard boxes for litter boxes, old towels and blankets and also recyclables to purchase items. Benefiting the SPCALA Center in Long Beach.
- Kathleen H., Cadette III, working on Silver Award. Making Christmas Trees for children at the Children Hospital. Collecting plastic bottles or cans. Please see flyer.
- Michelle T., Cadette III, working on Silver Award. Asking for donations of $5.00 (home-made Braille cookies) to purchase 20 beach towels to replace the cot covers at the Blind Childrens Center. Extra donations she will be purchasing heavy duty tricycles.
- Erin T., Cadette III, working on Silver Award. Raising money for the Glendale Human Society which is a non-profit organization. She would like to house a stray or homeless dog. She made dog treats for the dogs and cookies for non-dog owners.

- Any levels that are planning an outing and need the digital camera, please see Ethel Toguchi.

- Nembutsu article is due on January 31, 2005. Historians please submit reports to Theresa a week before the January 31st due date.
- Leaders’ Meeting on January 5, 2005 at 6:30 p.m. First Girl Scout meeting for the New Year is on January 7, 2005.
- Thank you for the refreshments to Yokoyama, Hirayanagi and Li for the parents and Oyama and Hayashibara for the girls.
