50th Kaikan Anniversary

The New Member Welcome, Officer Installation, and New Years Party was held in the Kaikan in celebration of its 50th Anniversary on January 25.  Photos from the day were provided by Glen Tao.

Officially recognized new members of the Temple that joined last year.  Many names were read but few actually attended this service.

Installation ceremony for officers of the various organizations within the Temple was conducted by Rimban Briones.

Hoonko Service

Memorial Honoring Shinran Shonin

As the most important Jodo Shinshu observance, this is the date chosen to commemorate Shinran Shonin's passing.  Traditionally, seven days of services are conducted at Honzan, culminating on January 16.  During that period, numerous activities are held, recalling the legacy that the Founder has left.  This gives practicers a chance to "hear the light" through listening to sermons, talks, ritual, and sangha fellowship.  Generally, temples conduct their own Hoonko observances in the fall so that members can attend services at Honzan.

Betsuin Annual Eitaikyo Service November 16

Rimban Yuki Sugahara of the Buddhist Church of Sacramento was our featured speaker at our Annual Eitaikyo Service held on November 16, 2025.

The service was followed by chirashi zushi lunch for everyone in the Lotus room.

We are grateful to Rimban Sugahara for making the trip down to LA and for delivering the Dharma Messages.

Thank you to all who helped in organizing the event and the lunch.
